CV
2015 - : PhD canditate at Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. Thesis title: "The role of functional morphology in the choice and use of trophic resources in ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)".
2010 - : Biologist in Department of Ecology and Zoology, Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Main duties: researcher in Laboratory of Ant Biology and technical support.
2007 - 2009: Master in Ecology at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Thesis topic: "Conservation? Why? Discussing the arguments and goals of environmentalist ideology".
2002 - 2007: Bachelor in Biology at Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Thesis topic: "Ecology of Liolaemus occipitalis (Squamata: Tropiduridae) in sand dunes of Joaquina Beach, Santa Catarina Island, south Brazil".
Research interests
My current research is focused in ant ecology, merging morphology, chemical analyses and field data to answer questions such as: how use of resources shape ant communities around the world? Is morphology linked with function? Could we use morphological traits to predict ecological functions of species? What is the meaning of life?
I'm also interested in ecology and myrmecology in general, and have a soft spot for reptiles, too.
Although not currently working on it, theory, history and philosophy of science are past and future research interests, particularly environmentalist philosophy. I worked also in the “practical” side of conservation, having participated on the evaluation of ants for the official lists of threatened species for Santa Catarina state and Brazil.
